I recently ran across three Facebook application generators that allow you to quickly generate a Facebook app from your existing Clearspring widgets, Widgetbox widgets, or Dapps (content feeds).

Clearspring's Facebook App Generator

Widgetbox's App Accelerator

Dapper's Facebook App Maker

Building a Widget inside an existing framework can be helpful for developers, as you can leverage existing APIs and distribution channels.

Thx to Mashable for the info. ;)

Thanks for the mention. If Widgetbox can help you at all with your widgets, let us know. We've been blown away by the reaction to the Widgetbox app accelerator. In the last 60 days, members of the developer community have created more than 2000 facebook apps. Some are definitely more successful than others, but it's great to see the developers' creativity unleashed. :) Today we just launched the beta version of our OpenSocial accelerator -- it helps developers turn widgets into OpenSocial compatible apps. Give it a try or for more info, email opensocialbeta@widgetbox.com.
