sql server connect : Enterprise slow when connecting to remote DB

Hi I connect to a SQL Server 2000 db over the internet using Enterprise
manager. It is unfortunately extremely slow. It takes up to 20 minutes
to retrieve the databases and then each click is a 5-10 minute wait...

I connect using a username.

What could be the problem?

Is is also possible for my isp to set it that it only shows me my
database and not all their other clients databases.

any comments will be greatly appreciated.

If it's over the internet and there are a lot of databases,
it will be slow. Autoclose being enabled for the databases
also makes it slower. You should also make sure you have the
current service packs apply even if you only have the client
tools installed as there have been some fixes for some of
the performance issues in the service packs.
Enterprise Manager can't be configured for just the
databases that you can access to be in the view.
Query Analyzer will only display the databases you have
access to and would likely be faster for your situation.
