sql server connect : How to connect to remote server?

Hello,

I have a server in house, I created my own database on
the server, then added my computer name as an admin user
with windows autenthication.

Then on my workstation, I installed SQL Server, added
the server name in client network utility, and after tried
to register the server in enterprise manager. It failed...

Can anyone tell me what went wrong, obviously you don't
know, but did I miss a step? What should I go check and
verify? And exactly how should I have added myself as a
user on the physical server itself?

Thanks

I am assuming that both machines are on a switch or a hub in your home?

If so, it is likely a name resolution or an IP address issue. Can you
register your SQL Server name if you use the server IP address?
