sql server connect:
Hi,
I am using SQL Server 2000 as backend and VB.Net as front end. The SQL
Server will be kept at a central location. I can access the SQL Server from
any computer which belonged to the same domain. But I don't know how I can
access that SQL Server remotely (from a computer that did not belong to the
domain).

Do I need to open a specific port for the SQL Server?

Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

Thanks much,

Vinita

I'm guessing that in asking about opening ports, you need to
configure your firewall for access. You can find information
on this in the following article:
INF: TCP Ports Needed for Communication to SQL Server
Through a Firewall
