Error connecting to local MS SQL after disconnecting Windows XP from network asdfg

sql server connect: Hello:

I think this is a simple problem, and frankly, not sure why it's a problem.

I have MSDE on a laptop and need to be disconnected from my network. After
the cable is disconnected, I cannot open MSDE anymore. I've checked all that
I can think of.

I get varying error messages depending on how I tweek it. I've verified that
the MS SQL service can start as localsystem as well as under a user account
(ps. the OS is XP, and it's ni a workgroup environment).

Hoping someone out there has run into this, before I take my wallet out and
phone Microsoft.

Thank you

Could you post the error messages you are getting? What's in the SQL Server
error log - perhaps post relevant sections from there. Is there anything in
the Application Event log?

When you say "open" MSDE, what exactly do you mean?
