You're in the

sql server connect: I am trying to connect to a MSDE database using SQL Query
Analyser and Client Network Utility, using Windows
authentication -- but I get this error....

Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated
with a trusted SQL Server connection.

How do I set up my PC or the other PC so it lets me
connect through Windows authentication. There doesn't
seem to be anywhere on Client Network Utility to add the
windows username and password for who you want to log in
as. I am connecting using TCP/IP.

I have tried to use SQL Server authentication (with the
sa password), but that didn't work. When I installed MSDE
it didn't give any option to pick which type of
authentication you want to use.

Thanks, Craig

You should be able to connect via a local machine administrator. Once
connected you can the add your account as a valid login for sql.

Thanks, Mark

If i connected "via a local machine administrator", how
would I add my account.

in this format: IpAddress\username ?

would that need to be a fixed IP address ?
