Replication General Network Error

Replication General Network Error ms1746

sql server connect:

I have looked through all the posts and I have seen similar problems bu
nothing that answers my issue so I am trying not to ask the sam
question as everyone else.

Here is the configuration:

Distributor and Publisher:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server Clustered
Sql Server 2000 Sp3a Clustered Active/Passive
Transactional Replication
Push Subscriptions

Subscribers:
Sub1 - W2k SQL 2000
Sub2 - W2k SQL 2000
Sub3 - W2k SQL 2000

Replication is done over the Internet but the clustere
Distributor/Publisher is in the Same Domain as Subscribers and is se
to 'Impersonate SQL Server Account on all servers'

Everything runs fine for the most part and transactions are delivere
sucessfully however every now and then (there is no pattern) th
Distribution Agents fail for all 3 subscribers, not at the same tim
though. One instance it will be the distribution agent for Sub1, th
next for Sub3, the next for Sub2 and Sub3, etc.

The error that is in the SQL Server log is the "Error: 14152, Severity
10, State: 1" and "Replication-Replication Distribution Subsystem
agent SVRNAME-DISTAGENTNAME scheduled for retry. General network error
Check your network documentation.."

As you all know this error is very generic and when I go through th
event viewer for the OS there is nothing to associate with it, m
network team sees nothing on the routers, switches or the T1's.

Where else can I look to figure this out? I have searched everywher
so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!!

Are you sure no one is touching the cables on your network cards or maybe
they are just loose. Or, it could be that the server(s) it is trying to
connect to has its disks or cpu too busy to accomodate a connection....
