sql server connect : SQLBrowseConnect returns network servers during local scan

Please help, deadline approaching.

I used the listsvr utility supplied from http://www.sqldev.net/misc/ListSQLSvr.htm.
And on Sql 2000 machines it works fine returning all the instances on those machines.

Yet on a particular SQL 7.0 machine, it returns a network sql 2000 server, and also a '(local)' server name which I don't know where is coming from and can't access anyway. I don't think SQL 7.0 instances are named '(local)' like they are in SQL 2000.

I use the utility as:
listsqlsvr -S MYMACHINE

As I mentioned before it only works like this on a particular SQL7.0 server running on Win2k. I have another 7.0 server but on this it reports a '' (blank) server name. Why won't the SQLBrowseConnect return any SQL7.0 entries.

Again please help.
