Does anybody really know is it possible? We don't want to create a linked
database, but we need to make some steps on the remote database, gather some
data and then send this data to our main server via IP connection, setting

Have a client that would like to convert and upgrade
access 97 database over to sql or .net application and

Have a windows 2000 server DC (SP4) with SQL server 2000 (SP4). It already happened 3 times where the SQL service stops. What could be the cause? Below is a list on event viewer.

I have a VB.NET app using MSDE and the SQL-DMO to get a list of available
server. I installed a copy of MSDE on the users' machine (this machine did
not have MSDE previously so it was a new copy including latest SP3), then

I'm trying to connect to a MSDE instance behind a firewall using
TCP/IP. I configured the firewall to redirect the 1433 and 1434 ports
to the MSDE server but it fails to connect. If I open de 135 and 445
ports it connects succesfully but it's quite risky to expose the
