Helo,
I nstalled two instances of sqlserver2000 on an win server 2000.
first problem: changing the default tcp port from one instance ,also
changes the port of the other one. No way to have two different ports.
The eventviewer indicates a problem with one of the two instances:
cannot connect to port.
Using "sql server enterprise" on an xp workstation I try to mount one
of the instances.
It fails constantly by saying it refuses "sa" to connect.
the instances are supposed to work in a mixed environment :windows and
sqlserver.
sa exists only in the sqlserver instances and is db-owner of the
masterdatabase.
when tracing I just see that my workstation finds the server on the
given port and the server responds but a security on sa prevents the

What is the exact error you get using the sa login? Can you connect using
NT authentication form the server itself while logged on as an adminstrator
of the machine?

No problem connecting as administrator. I created another login
account in sqlserver and it works.So "sa" seems to be corrupted.But I
can still not have two different ports with TCP/IP
