sql server connect:
Hi, I am new to Networking and we have just put in a CISCO firewall so we
can have VPN access to the SQL 2000 server (server 2000) but after getting
the VPN in place we found that we do not have VPN access to the database.
CISCO informed me that we need to set up the SQL server to have UNICAST
traffic instead of MULTICAST or BROADCAST in order for the VPN to allow
access to SQL. I do not know how to make the server a Unicast server and i
have read everything i can find and cannot see how to make the SQL server a
Unicast machine. Can Anyone Help???

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
Chip

If you have VPN access to the server that SQL Server is running on then you
have access to SQL Server. You don't VPN directly to an instance of SQL
Server. Actually if you are VPN'd anywhere on that domain you should be
able to access SQL Server just as if you were directly connected to it. The
only exception is that you may not be able to use windows authentication.
It depends on how everything is set up but you should have no problem with
SQL Logins.
