sql server connect:
Normally its: SQL/Server (1433), SQL-Monitor (1434)

But as you can configure that as you want with the Server Network config
Tool, located in the Program folder of SQL Server it can depend on your
manual settings.

SQL Port Restriction Wade Rocco

Hello All,

Which ports are necessary for SQL communication?? I have a test environment
with a web server and a separate db server and I want to shut down any
unnecessary ports on the web/SQL server.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!!

Wade

Thanks alot for the reply!! I've realized that what I am trying to do will
require some sort of firewall. I was hoping to do port filtering on the
network adapter of the web server. Sensibly though, while SQL listens on
1433, the comunications back to the client are randomized ports.

Thanks for the help though!!!
