sql server connect : TDS error after upgrade to SP4

We have an OpenQuery to an Oracle linked server that was working fine in SQL
2000 SP3. After upgrading to SQL 2000 SP4 (MDAC 2.8), the query is failing
with "Protocol error in TDS stream". It seems to be related to sending a
very large query - when I reduce the size of the query, it seems to work.

Kept working with it and found the problem. I was selecting a large text
string and not naming the column. The old version used the string literal as
the column name but truncated it at some point. The new version gives an
error. Just an oversight on my part to not have named the column in the

I have the same problem but I’m using an OLAP linked server.
How do we rename a column?

It seems that " as aliasname" doesn’t work with an olap mdx query
