hi,
I am having problems connecting to a new SQL Server 2000 server via
IPX. in answer to the inevitable questions as to why we are using such
an outdated protocol the application in question is running on
industrial ruggidised handheld devices running DOS. as such we cannot
use a tcp-ip client with them.
when trying to connect via query analyser we get an error
Server : Msg 11, Level 16, State 1
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][NWLink IPX?SPX] SQL Server Does not
exist or access denied
until the advanced settings in an Alias are used to set a MAC address,
port and network id.
it then works. it also works with TCP-IP. I have checked the Bindery
lists for the Novell servers on the network and the server name is
showing up.
I have been looking around but info is scarce on this subject.
Thanks in advance.
