sql server connect : sql server auto logging in with my old window password

Hi all,

I initially set up my server database with window connection. after two
months and my window password is expired and I just noticed that the server
is not started any more since the original password is not working any more.
I tried to register the server with my sql user ID and password, it doesn't
work at all since the server is not started with my old password as I turn on
my window.
What should I do in this case. Mine is sql 2000.

Thank you

Hi Betty,

Thank you for using MSDN Managed Newsgroup Support.

From your description, my understanding of this issue is: You want to
change your SQL Server 2000 running account. If I misunderstood your
concern, please feel free to let me know.

Please follow these steps to resolve your problem:
1. In the Start menu, click Run, type services.msc and then click OK. This
will appear a Sevices dialogbox.

2. In the Services, find the windows servicec for SQL Server. For default
instance, the service name is MSSQLSERVER and for named instance, it is
MSSQ$InstanceName.

3. Right-click the service, click Properties in the menu.

4. Click the Log On tab. Chose the Local System account under the Log on
as: label.

5. Click OK and then Right-click the Service, click Restart to restart the
service.

6. After doing this, you can try to connect to your SQL Server Instance.

Hope this will be helpful!

Sincerely,

Thank you, Lu Wei.
Your message is certainly very helpful. I will do this if next time I have
this issue.
Yesterday, I changed my windows password to the original one(somehow I just
memorize the old password )and restarted the computer. So the sql server
started and I re-registered the server with sql server userID and password.
It works fine.
