sql server connect:
When I try to use telnet to monitor sql2005 connectivity I'm getting an
error says 17836 severity 20, state 1, Length specified in network
packet payload did not match number of bytes read; the connection has
been closed. Plase contact the vendor of the client library. In sql
2000, the same test is ok.

It's unclear as to whether this is just trying to telnet to
the listening port or not. If that is what you mean by tests
and monitoring connectivity, try to telnet to the server by
name as well as IP address.
Please provide the steps to reproduce the issue and what
error messages you are receiving in what application or tool
using what commands.
