sql server connect : SQL Server Errors

We currently have the SQL Server Service Manager Version 8.00.760 running on
Windows 2000. Some programs are not working ie. Timberline Office. When we
attempt to open the progrma a SQL Server Error appears. The SQL Server was
located in the Add/Remove Programs section of the computer and we attempted
to repair this with the repair button. The computer then responds saying
that it cannot complete the install and to try removing the program and
re-installing it. This was attempted. When we tried to remove it, it says
that it cannot complete the requested operation
QUESTION: Should we keep trying to remove it and re-install, and if we do
how can that be accomplished and where can we find a working version of the

You would need to post the exact error message and error
number. Not working and getting a SQL error are too vague
for anyone to be able to help you out.

Our error message reads " if you believe the sqlservr is corrupt uninstall &
then re-rerun setup to correct the problem"

When we try to uninstall our computer freezes and we have to reboot by
turning the power off.
