sql server data mining : are these groups still moderated?

It is bad enough that my email address got harvested for the fake Microsoft
IE 4.01 product alert email that has a virus attachment as a security patch.
But I think the posts should be more closely censored as you can see from
some of the posts in this newsgroup.

Always keep your antivirus and Microsoft software up to date with the
latest definitions and product updates. Be suspicious of every email
attachment, I will never send or post anything other than the text of a
http:// link nor post the link directly to a file for downloading.

Andy_mcdba@yahoo.com gets filled up to the account limit with spam every
couple of hours now so replies may not be possible. I will remove this
disclaimer once every ISP involved with relaying the spam can help me out.

They are not moderated, but they are monitored, so spam gets removed from
the MS server. Unfortunately many peers do not processes the removal request
properly, but the removal still takes some time even for MS.

As for harvesting, that is an unfortunate side-effect of being a public
service. Use an obfusticated email address or one that you can throw away
when the spam get's too bad.

These groups are not moderated as they are very much in the public
domain and I believe MS do the best they can to avoid pitfalls like
this.

If you look at a lot of people's mail addresses in the NGs you will see
they are a variation on their real address or a completely bogus one.

MS would not go out an actively post to a NG or by email a security
patch. They would send out a Security/Hotfix warning (KB) and then let
you go to them to retrieve it.

Pretty much going to have to either change your email address, or get a spam
blocker such as www.spamarrest.com

Also, you are still posting using your real email address, so you are not
helping yourself. Change that in your newsgroup settings to something like
Subhash@Don'tSpamMe.com

I get on an average 250-350 emails daily with the worm (with the subject:
Critical pack, etc). I believe my email was lifted off the microsoft
newsgroups. How can I stop this? I have made rules, blocked senders, etc,
but nothing seems to work.
