Disappearing columns -- sql server data mining

Hi

I am defining a new dimension. When I select a table as
the source of the dimension and try to choose a columns
of the table as dimension levels, any text based column
of the source table dissappears from the list when I go
to choose levels. The source tables come from DB2 for the
AS400. If I set the "force translate" property of the DB2
OLE DB provider = 37, I can see the data in the text
columns as text. If I set the "force translate" property
of the DB2 OLE DB provider = 65535, the data in the text
columns appears as the word <BINARY>.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
