creating a cube is it compulsory? -- sql server data mining

Hi Jamie MacLennan ,
Thanks for helping me....I have one more question..I have
just created the tree using decision algorithm.I have not formed the
cube.....should i form a cube compulsorily for doing a predicting
model??

I dont know if u will be able to help me for this question....but i
just wanted to ask you...I have problems selecting the important
attributes for my dataset(kddcup 1999 intrusion detection
dataset)....can u suggest me any thing for this....

You do not need to create a cube to do datamining for any reason. If you
have a cube already, you can use data mining on top of it.
