Usually what they mean is some form of data export,
specialised for their needs, from SQL to excel whereby
they can examine relationships between elements of the
data within the export file.

The key is determining exactly what data is needed by
the client for this exercise. Precise specifications help.

Hello,

The client said that "what-if" analysis is some kind of deduction of the
tasks needed to obtain a specific goal.

He mentioned the case of "WHAT i need to grow up the sales in 5% IF the
actual sales are like the sales cube said" (am i clear?, sorry, but my
english is a little basic): If the sales are 5,000 units per week, with 10
salesman, in 5 stores, with 100 clients, what i need to modify to increment
that quota in 5%?. I know, is more like a dream, but the client saw
products of cognos, proclarity that mentioned in their web sites that thier
products has this kind of facilities, but the cost of each license is too
high for my client, so i need something that work fine in analysis services
cubes (the client already have cubes), with more reasonable costs (yes, i
know, another dream), but, exist anything like that?

i hope this information be more clear.

Thanks

Often in situations such as this, the figures being mentioned (5%)
are within the realm of extrapolation from the actual historical
data available in the database.

Sales often need to be linked to cost of sales, and the history
of the organization will yield information regarding the fluctuations
in sales and in associated costs.

Hope this aspect assists.
