sql server data warehouse:

My date dimension has many columns that are either not
hierarchical or do not fit into the day/month/quarter/year
hierarchy. For example, I have several flags, for example,
weekday, and day of week text, fiscal quarters, etc. Is
there some way to make these columns available to users?

You can place these in your time dimension. You can have these as separate
dimensions or work with them in whatever manner is appropriate as levels.
