sql server data warehouse: I have one server where is installed SQL Server 2000 and Analysis
Services 2000.

I´m creating a cube with 50 dimensions and 30 measures. The workload of
this server is heavy. There are a lot of batchs that import data to a
OLTP database. When these processes were happening I try to procees the
cube. I received an error message sayng that the conection was lost
because the server was too busy. And after that, the status of Analysis
Services is permanently "Starting" and it never starts. I try to reboot
the server but it didn´t work, the service is still "Statrting".

What can I do??

Paulo

Paulo,
I had this problem as well. If you check your event log,
you'll see that AS is stopping and starting again
permanently. This is happening because something went
wrong while building the cube data.

I managed to solve the problem by deleting the files in
the data section of AS.

folder:

C:\program files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Data

Backup your cube files and then delete one cube at a time.
Try restarting AS after deletion. you will soon find out
which cube caused the problem. Rebuild this cube (thereby
recreating the corresponding entry in the folder /Data

Done.

It worked for me.
