sql server data warehouse:

When looking at the SQL online books the Period To Date Function Topic is
disable and would like to see what this function does, cause i am looking in
to calculation the sales figures in SQL using the Period To Date Function
and The Year To Date, but both this functions are disable, is there a way
that i a can be able to see functions?

does your BOL is filtered?
At the top of the page (above the "summary/index/search/favorites" tabs)
there is a drop downlist to filter the content of the help around 1
particular focus, just select "All collections" to see anything, then you
can select the period to date in the list to open it.
The period to date function is associated to the "Analysis Services"
collection.
