sql server dts:
Toad is an excellent choice
Yes you need the Oracle bits on the PC/Server that runs the DTS package

.....is done best how ?

Have heard of Toad...or perhaps linked server and then use query analyzer ?
But this way I cannot get a list of tables on the Oracle database ?

And second (or third..) I need to have an Oracle client on the SQL Server
that needs to get data from Oracle ? Not just an odbc ?

Would you consider text files instead of ole / odbc ?

It isn't that large record amount....

People have complained/noted in the past that Oracle to SQL Server can be slow so some have used Text Files as an intermediary.
Both systems have fast ways of loading text files.
