sql server dts: Hi,

I am trying to create a DTS package wherein the data from the sql
server is transfered to a text file. I am using the Transform Data Task

to transfer the data.In Transform Data task properties, I build the
query and able to preview the data but when i click OK in the Transform

Data task properties screen I get the following error.

"To continue , define transformations. You can make changes to the
default transformations"

I am not able to define the transformations. Has anyone had this
problem and know a way to resolve it. I would appreciate if anyone
could help me.

Thanks
MB

If you follow this article how do you get on and if it fails where does
it fail?

thanks for the reply

The problem occurs in page 11 of the tutorial. When i click on the
destination tab, I see the column in the Define Column window but when
i click Execute nothing happens. Since there are no columns in the
destination, the tranformation fails.

I think its because of the number of columns i am selecting. Cause it
works fine for tables with 15-20 columns. The table i am trying to
transfer has 77 columns.

Hello Mohan,

OK then what Service Pack are you using?

Is it 3 (760)?

What I suspect Allan is getting at, is there is a bug in SP3. If you are
running SP3, then you should have at least applied the security roll-up,
which includes a fix for this.

Better still get SP4. Remember you should also patch clients, not just
the server.

FIX: DTS Designer may generate an access violation after you install SQL
Server 2000 Service Pack 3
