sql server dts:
Hi,

I have just installed SQL 2005 Developer Edition on a Win2003 Server.
I have an installation of SQL 2000 on the same machine, which I use for DTS
package creation.
Since the SQL 2005 installation, my DTS packages are breaking on the DTS
Mail Task, it fails with the message that the semmap90.dll is not installed.

I have seen similar postings with the same problem, but no fix.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Malcolm Klotz

Hello Malcolm,

It appears you have a corrupted installation and should correct that. The
file semmap90.dll is referenced in SQL 2000 DTS api and you shall install
SQL 2005 tools which include semmap90.dll. If the issue still occurs,
please try to uninstall/reinstall SQL 2005 tools to test.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the advice, the re-install of SQL 2005 did not work, but
re-installing SQL 2000 fixed the problem.
Should I be worried that I still have a corrupted SQL 2005 installation? (I
did not receive any errors during installation)

Hello Malcolm,

Great to hear the issue is resolved! I believe the issue is caused by SQL
2000 for your specific issue and there is no worry about SQL 2005
installation now. Your experience shall benefit the community. :-)

Go to the 80 directory that's installed with SQL Server 2000 -
(\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn)

Rename the semmap.dll file to semmap90.dll

Here's a quick summary of the files and versions I have. Everythin
still works fine. I'm running SQL Server 2000, SP4.

THIS DIRECTORY NEEDS TWO DLL'S
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\
semmap.dll - (version 2000.80.2039.0)
semmap90.dll - (version 2000.80.194.0)

*This directory needs two RLL's* (I made a copy of semmap.rll and name
it semmap90.rll):
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033
semmap.rll - (version 2000.80.194.0)
semmap90.rll - (version 2000.80.194.0)
