"Unspecified error" When saving a DTS Package Scott

sql server dts: Hello,

I have a DTS package that is being run every day. It's been in existence
for a couple of years, now, transferring information between two systems.
Yesterday, one of our users noticed a small problem and I went into the
package to make a minor change. (Specifically, I modified a part of an SQL
statement in an Execute SQL Task. And I'm 100% sure that the change is a
valid and runnable SQL statement) When I clicked on the save button, I got
the following error:

Error Source : Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Error Description : Unspecified error

I've searched the internet and the MS knowledge base and have not found any
helpful information. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm running MS SQL
Server 2000 on a Windows 2000 Server machine.

Thanks,
Scott

Hello scott,

So if the statement is valid then the error does not rally tell us very much.
Things i would try

Build the exact same structure (1 task) in another package - does it work?

Simply open the task and close it having changed nothing. Still work?

Anything else use this connection data source? Do they still work?

Is anything being set at runtime that would "Make Valid" this task?

I have a developer who is getting this same type of error. We have narrowed
it down to two data tranformations in the package. If we delete either of
the two tasks the package saves. We have tried changing the SQL statement in
the task to other things. We deleted the task and saved and tried to add the
