Here's a weird one, but I'd be more than grateful if anyone could help.

I've been given the task of recreating a DTS, the only problem is when
I try to view the contents of the DTS, I see nothing. When I try to
create a new DTS, I get an empty window with no icons on the left (when
using SQL Server 7.0, which is what is installed on the server).

A colleague suggested that it may be due to the fact that certain SQL
Server 7.0 dlls were overwritten with SQL Server 2000 dlls (which would
explain why the same DTS packages can be viewed using SQL Server 2000
on another machine)

My question is this, if there are certain dlls that are required in SQL
Server 7.0 to edit/view DTS packages, what are they?

Thanks

I am not sure, when reading your post, what your actual setup is but if you have installed
2000 on a 7 box as an instance then as I recall your tools will now be 2000.

2000 can view 7 packages just fine, not necessarily the case the other way around.

I would start here.

Ok let me clarify:

SQL 7 is on the server (let's call it Alpha).

SQL 2K development tools were installed on top of SQL 7 (by accident).

If I connect to Alpha with a client that has SQL 2K installed, then I
can view the DTS package contents and edit them as normal.

If I try and view the contents of the DTSs on Alpha itself, then I
cannot see anything when I attempt to view the package contents.

Hope that makes things clearer.
