sql server dts: Hello carlos,

You might want to look at padding the rows.

Have a look over this article it may help.

problem importing a fixed field flat file Carlos

Hi all,

I just ran into some problems trying to import different
text files using the fixed field file format tool.
Some of the files get their records truncated. That is
if the first record is shorter than any other records in the file, Teh limit
is set at the end of the first record instead of at the end of the longest
record.

Another problem is that for some other files, the only
record that is shown is the first record, and no others.
I checked the file and was able to verify that the records indeed had the
cr/lf for the row delimitation.

What can I do to solve this problems? Thanks in
advance for any advice that you can give me.

Carlos.

Hi Allan,

thank you for your suggestion. I did download the dll,
and created the custom task. However, I do not know
how to execute it properly. I tried by executing just the
custom task, but it reported an error. Can you help me on that?

Thanks,

Carlos.

Hello Carlos,

Did you register the dll?

What was the error?

Allan
