sql server dts : basic SSIS question... where are they?

Hey,
I am an old timer with DTS now coming into SSIS. in DTS, the packages
were stored on the server. it was easy to browse and edit them. now, I
create a SSIS project, what i end up with is a *.dtsx file, right? and
so, the packages are... just to be scattered around on the hard disk?
not 'inside' the server, like DTS? could they\should they be deployed
into the server, in some way?

thanks!

You can create a deployment manifest and deploy to the server
You can connect to the SSIS service on your box and import the.dtsx file
in SSMS.

Remember SSMS is about management and BIDs is about Development and
never the twain shall meet.
