sql server dts:
Good Afternoon All,

I'm compiling a list of reasons to justify the upgrade to SSIS from
DTS. Below are the few reasons I've come up with during the limited
time I've had to think about it. I would appreciate input from the
group as well.

1) SSIS packages will migrate to future versions of SSIS with ease
compared to DTS to SSIS.
2) Error Logging is much improved in the SSIS compared to DTS.
3) Support for more data sources.

Thanks,

Jody

The are tons of reasons:

-SSIS supports .NET custom code
-Better (or even the is actually one) graphical design of workflows.
-Seapration of WorkFlow and DataFlow
-REAL ETL Process, no Extract -- Load --Transform -- Extract --Load
like in DTS.
-Richer functionality in supported functions (liek transaction scopes,
fuzzy logic etc)

Loads of things

Now Enterprise Class - moves data quickly, flexibly, consistently,
scalably
Fuzzy algorithms
Seperation of Control Flow and Workflow
Property Expressions
Event Handlers
More tools in the toolbox
Extensibility
Ease of use
Loop constructs
Lack of need to write so much code

Etc
