sql server dts:
Our team should migrated all SQL 2K DB's to SQL 2K5 x64 (64-bits version).

As part of migration we should migrate DTS packages. Almost DTS's are
simple, have not level of complexity.
We're following next steps to migrate them:
1. Connect to SQL 2005 server using SQL Management Studio from the server.
2. Go down the tree to Management, Legacy and Right Click on Data
Transformation Services and Open DTS Package
3. From the Open Dialog box Go to the above folder and choose the package
you want to migrate to SQL 2005
4. Choose the package name and click on Open

Immediately step 4 we receive following error (same with anything DTS):

This package cannot be edited.
SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages.
Install the special Web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components"
to use this feature.

Keep in mind we are migrating to SQL 2K5 x64 version (64-bits).
We have success when we use above 4 steps on SQL 2K5 x86 (32-bits).

In order to continue with our DTS migration we would like to know:

1. Are SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components included into SQL 2K5 x64 ?

2. Where can we find SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components installer for
x64?
We found Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components at
Integration Services Downloads
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/aa336314.aspx) but we are not sure if
it is SQL 2K5 x64 compliant.

Finally, recommendations to resolve this issue will be appreciate.

Thanks,
Jaime S.

Hi Jaime

[quoted text, click to view]
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=df0ba5aa-b4bd-4705-aa0a-b477ba72a9cb&displaylang=en
would indicate it is and X86 package, which plugs into the tools rather than
the engine! To run the packages there is a separate X64 version of the
Backward Compatibility Components.
