I believe SQL 2005 ships with an RTF IFilter.
If you run

select * from sys.fulltext_document_types

It shows that the .rtf IFilter is hosted inside the MSSQL\Binn\msfte.dll

for Sql 2000

It ships by default in sql 2005.

I cannot get it worked on my XP (no service pack).
Although I am searching the Windows Indexing service, I think they are
similar.
