sql server full text search: We are planning on renting a dedicated server for two of our web
applications. I would appreciate it if someone could give us some
advice on the server requirements in terms of the CPU and RAM. Here's
our situation:

Both these apps use Full Text Indexing on one column (varchar 255) in
each database. One of these databases already has around 1.3 million
rows, the other one about 200.000 and both are growing at about a rate
of 100.000 rows a month. The websites that use the databases have
about 1000 visitors a day. We are using SQL Express 2005 with Advanced
Services.

Can someone give me an indication at what to look at when renting the
dedicated server?

Thank you in advance!

Get a high speed disk subsystem, preferably with 10 or more high speed disks
in a single raid 5 array for your catalog. We are running a 3 terabyte sql
fts search application on a single DL 585 quad, with 8 Gigs of RAM, 3 Ghz.
