Hi Greg,

Thanks for the quick reply. I really appreciate it.

But It is quite possible that another application has installed an instance
and it and needs the sql Manager. Or may be the system also has SQL Server
installed.

My problem is that, I don't want my instance/installation to create/put the
icon in the system tray. If another application has put it, I don't care.

Please help.

Thanks

Subhojit

It normally is just an entry in the "Startup" folder for all users. You
could just remove it.

Go to Start/Programs/Administrative Tools/Services
find 'SQLAgent', along with the instance name of your MSDE instance - if you
don't want it to start each time you start the computer, just change the
Startup Type to Manual

This will prevent SQL Agent from starting, but will not prevent the service
manager icon from appearing in the system tray.
