the differences are bot in the EULA and related rights to install it, as
long as the packages them selves..
MSDE Rel A is free to download, install and use and will only install fresh
instances of MSDE 2000 updated at the sp 3a level..
sql2kdesksp3.exe can both install fresh instances of MSDE 2000 updated at
the sp 3a level and upgrade previuosly installed instances at that sp level,
though the size difference.. it's use is related to other EULAS, such as
being eligible for having a valid SQL Server licence, VS.Net license, MSDN
subscription and so on (other Microsoft software entitle for using that
package)
