Tried to do a search on EXEC and got a lot of hits, but none that I saw
addressed my problem.
I'm trying to move a DB, but when I type,
EXEC sp_detach_db 'database'
I get the unrecognized command error.
I did a search for EXEC, but couldn't find it.

Is it possible to set DATADIR=\\<company_network_somedirectory>\? When I
try it, set-up seems to fail.
Also, if I were to create a new database on a default instance of MSDE, I am
not able to pick mapped network directories.

We have a software program that uses MSDE and the log file
is currently at 7 gigabytes in size which is abnormal.
When I do a backup using the softwares utility the backup
is only about 12 meg but when i restore to a fresh install
of windows the log file is right back at 7 gigabytes.
