All,
I uninstalled my MSDERelA which was working to test a new install
routine... When I try to reinstall, the install gets to the "Please wait
while install configures MSDE..." and hangs with somewhere between 2-5
seconds remaining (according to the progress bar).... any articles on what's
happening?

One addition.... The install works OK when I run from a command prompt
(cmd.exe) but hangs when i try to run from within a program using
"Process.Start()"... I will also cross post this to the VB group...
ANY input is welcome!!!

Which operating system are you using? And MSDERelA is SQL Server 2000
Desktop database?

You may not have completely un-installed the first installation. My
suggestion, follow the manual un-install process, reboot and try it again.

thanks for the reply... sorry, yes MSDE 2000 rel A...
I went through the manual uninstall already with no difference... it works
fine from a command prompt (cmd.exe) just not from the Process.Start()
within my program... any other clues?
I really appreciate the help!

Hmm, that introduces another variable. Perhaps you could create an
unattended install file instead of launching the setup.exe from another
program? Just a thought.
