WSUS requires SQL 2000 Desktop Engine, SQL Server 2000, or MSDE 2000 sp3 for
it's database. I was wondering if I could use SQL 2005 Express Edition
instead.

I guess that's something you will have to ask the WSUS folks. I would
assume they haven't tested in SQL Express yet so it's probably not a safe
thing to do. I talked to them about using Yukon in their next release but
I don't know if they plan to test with their current release.
