redistribution rights? Matt

sql server msde:
ok, to my understanding, and correct me if I’m wrong, but by registering the
MSDE 2000 Release A I can then develop and distribute my software with MSDE
embedded in the application?>

secondly, Can i also included the install file MSDE2000A.exe on my
distribution CD to allow whoever wants to install my software can install
MSDE from my CD instead of having to download it?... would I be breaching the
"EULA".

so I understand that as long as I register I can send a list of "allowed"
redistributed files, and also send the install file for MSDE2000A.exe with my
package.?...

Am I correct, thanks ahead for any information?

p.s. yes i have read many documents on the Microsoft site, it's just not
clear, maybe because i didn't have the amount lawyers that Microsoft had when
they wrote this. :P

Hi Andrea,

thanks a bunch for the info, and a few more clarifications are needed, OK
firstly i read in the Q&A's that if you purchased a Microsoft product and
MSDE comes with it then as long as I register that product then that's
basically giving me the redistribution rights, correct?

and if so is it only that application that can be used to redistribute the
MSDE components/installer? or can i use any application to develop and
redistribute my software(with MSDE embbed of course)?

i think that's it for the time beeing :P...

thanks a bunch. With Regards,
Matt.

hi Matt,
[quoted text, click to view]

yes, you are entitled to..

[quoted text, click to view]

no, you are entitled to "bundle" the MSDE installation package along with
your apps..

[quoted text, click to view]

this is a little more sublte... I know for sure tha distributing SQL-DMO
components is allowed, while SQL-NS is not... but I'm not a lawyer, so
you've better ask Microsoft commercial support for this..

hi Matt,

again, I'm not a lwayer, but my understanding is as following:
[quoted text, click to view]

as long as you register for distribution rights, you do not need to have
other Microsoft product(s)...

[quoted text, click to view]

you may download, register for distribution rights, and the bundle that MSDE
package with your own apps written in Delphi. :D
