Why is it getting slow? Paul Pedersen

sql server msde: I have a small (12 MB) database. I don't think it's full, but in any case
it's set to grow without limit as necessary.

It is accessed only by MSDE on the same machine, and then only by one
application, via ODBC.

Everything was working until about a month ago, when it became very slow.
Even just connecting to it sometimes takes 30 seconds. It used to be
instantaneous. Now sometimes it just times out.

What could be going wrong?

hi Paul,

do you (regularly) defragment your machine? and do you (regularly) perform
database maintenance and indexes defragmentation?

Yes. The disk is pretty empty anyway.

No. (Being new to MSSQL, I don't know how.) But like I said, it's really
quite a small database.

I can say though that records rarely if ever get deleted, if that matters.
