sql server msde:
Hi!

I try to install BE 10.1.5629 AGAIN on the system.
But it does not work. I have the problem with the MSDE what is needed.
I tried this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320873/EN-US/
I tried this too: lodctr /r:perfstringbackup.ini
Both does not work.

Any Idea?

Olaf

hi Olaf,
[quoted text, click to view]

unfortunately I'm not able to understand your problem, but I do usually use
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q290991 advices to
manually remove an MSDE instance... the KB article you reported adds a way
to clean the Windows registry (via MSIZap.exe, part of the Windows Installer
SDK) from MSDE Windows Installer related entries...
did you inspect the MSDE installer log file (available if you provide the
/L*v "c:\MsdeLog.Txt"
parameter to your call to the MSDE setup boostrap installer) searching for
RETURN VALUE 3
entries? about 10 lines before each entry, some (sometime cryptic)
description of the prolem will be reported..

hi,
[quoted text, click to view]

this exception is usually related to "incomplete" uninstall of other
instances... if you already did a proper cleanup of your machine as per the
kb article you and I already posted (both file system and windows registry),
then another issue can be related to MDAC stack corruption ... if you do
have winxp you can not reinstall MDAC as no MDAC 2.8sp2 package is
available, but you can try fixing it as reported in
http://www.macropool.com/en/download/mdac_xp_sp2.html
