sql server msde:
Try my book. I discuss SQL Server Express edition (the latest MSDE
equivalent) in great detail.

Also notice that Bill only answers questions here when he has a book
to sell. ;-)

Since March of 2006 alone I have answered over 760 questions on this and
other aliases. Over the last 21 years since I joined MS and started
answering developer questions I have answered countless more--tens of
thousands of responses that sometimes take two hours a day and usually 7
days a week. I just spent over 30 months almost full time writing a 1100+
page book (my 12th) that's full of the answers to questions asked here in
this newsgroups (and others) over and over again. These are all too often
answers that won't fit on a single page or take too long to answer here. I
have also provided text for dozens of articles, editorials and whitepapers
on my web site and in my blog for free. What's wrong with sending people to
a detailed printed compendium of the answers? Incidentally, if you actually
review my responses, I recommend other people's books and consultancies as
well. I also have been known to take free calls from developers, architects
and managers (those that are invited to do so) that need extra help. Sure, I
really profit from the book--about a buck a copy. If I'm lucky I'll sell
5,000-8,000 copies over a period of three years. Would you work for that? Do
you suggest that I find something else better to do with my time? Perhaps
you would like to take up the load?

yada, yada, yada....

There are plenty of people (including myself at various points in
time) who post more answers than that in the same amount of time for
no compensation other than fulfilling their membership in their
particular community so, stop whining. There is something
particularly sleazy about someone who directs others to purchase their
own book rather than providing a specific answer in public forums such
as these. If you've answered a question before, just point the
questioner to your previous answer in the Google archives.

Bottom line, if you don't like being a member of the community that
these groups comprise enough to do it without making a direct profit
from your answers maybe it _is_ time for you to think about doing
something else.
