Could someone let me know how to log ship the database and the steps
invloved in it? Can you create a scheduled plan for this or is it done only
when it is in need?

Hi

You need Enterprise Edition to do this with a maintenance plan.

Books Online has all the information to set it up and how it works, look for
"log shipping".

If you do not have EE, you can use the log shipping tool supplied in the SQL
Server 2000 Resource Kit.
