I have upgraded an NT 4.0 server to Win2k server. The NT 4.0 server had SQL
Server 2000 on it. Once the upgrade was done and the server rebooted and SQL
Server did not start on boot up. When I tried to manually start it I
received an error saying Access Denied, clicked ok and received a SQL Server
Service Manager window that said. An error 5 - (Access is denied.) occurred
while performing this service operation on the MSSQL Server service. I
logged on as the local administrator and received the same error. I have
noticed that under profiles I not only have an Administrator but also an
administrator. (my server name) I feel like this is a simple permissions
problem but I can't seem to figure it out. Your help would be greatly

Hi Freedomring,
Sql server and also Sql server agent can run under local system or domain
account, you said that you upgrade NT4.0 but you don't say anything about a
type of server (member server, PDC,BDC) so I think you SQL agent try to use
some domain account, but maybe DC is not available ?

Daniel
