sql server new users : SQL Developer Edition

I am in the process of developing a web site for my company and would like to
use SQL Server. Our hosting company Crystaltech.com offers SQL DB's in their
hosting packages. Our company does not own SQL 2000.

My question is: Can we purchase SQL Developer Edition to design the DB and
maintain it (using Enterprise Manager) on the hosts server without having to
buy the more expensive versions?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you could use it to design the database but I seriously
doubt that maintenance would be allowed. You can find the Dev. Ed. EULA
here: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/development.asp

Right. Maintenance falls under production use.

Hi Eric,

None of us are lawyers (or none have identified themselves!), but that said,
the EULA specifically rules out any production use, so I'd be saying "no".

HTH,
