sql server new users:
I am on a home network, Linksys router... all my computers are set up using
peer-to-peer (workgroup) connections... However, I have one computer
(dual-boot Linux & Windows 2k3 server evaluation edition) that has sql
server's evaluation edition loaded on it... I can see the win 2k3 server from
the other computers (three windows xp pro & four windows xp home) on the
network... I have client tools loaded on one of the pro computers, but it
can't log onto the server... I set it up to use sql server authentication...
I can't see the sql server that's loaded on the win 2k3 machine from inside
enterpise manageer (client tools) on the xp pro machine... what am I doing
wrong???

Hi

Is SQL Server running on the server?
Did you install SP3 (better SP4) for SQL Server on the w2k3 server as SQL
Server will not respond until it is patched?

What error are you getting?

Yes... server and the computer running client tools are both patched
with sp3... I'm trying to apply sp4 today... but, it's giving me the strong
password junk...
Thanks,
Dan

Hi SWOTAR,

If you are using windows only authentication from your computers you cannot
connect to sql server. Change your authentication on sql server to Windows
and SQL server and login with user name and password.

Daniel
