sql server new users: I am using SMO 2005 to assign alerts for error number 20574. My doubt
is whether we hav to assign job for the alerts that are created?? And
also will the alerts be generated when the error occurs and the
operators be notified thru email????

Thanks,

Somu

No, you do not have to create jobs for alerts to be raised. Alerts will be
raised when the error occurs, and you can select if you want email sent out,
or a page, or a net send, or a job run.
