sql server new users : SQL Server 2000 Standard on a Windows Server 2003 box with 4GB RAM

Hi there

We are running SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition (SP4) on a box with 4GB RAM
running Windows Server 2003.

I have set the Boot.ini switches ("/3GB", "/PAE" and "USERVA=3030") as
directed.

I have also run sp_configure to enable AWE and increase the minimum and
maximum memory settings.

Still, with some of the most memory-intensive procedures I know of, I can't
get SQL Server to use more than 1.6GB of memory.

Do you know how much is the best I can hope for (with Standard Edition) and,
if more than 1.6GB, how to achieve this?

Best regards
Loane

SQL Server 2000 Std edition can not use more than 2GB of ram regardless of
what you do. You either need to upgrade to 2005 Std or to 2000 Enterprise
edition to use more than 2GB. Remove the entries from the boot.ini as they
are of no use with this configuration.

Thanks Andrew, we're looking into 2005 Std at the moment, will probably
upgrade in time.
Best regards
Loane
